Duygu Yılmaz graduated from Bilkent University Faculty of Law and completed her LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law at Maastricht University Faculty of Law with her thesis titled “An Analysis of Fair Use Doctrine and Digital Rights Management within the Framework of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.”
During and following her postgraduate studies, she worked at RES Software Nederland B.V., where she was involved in resolving numerous disputes in the field of intellectual property law, managing contract processes, and implementing compliance measures in line with applicable regulations.
Duygu Yılmaz is a dual-qualified lawyer registered in both Turkey and England & Wales, providing legal consultancy under both jurisdictions. For nearly 14 years, she has advised Turkish banks, brokerage firms, publicly listed companies, and foreign clients, representing them before Turkish courts and regulatory authorities.
Her practice primarily focuses on capital markets law, banking law, commercial law, obligations law, and intellectual property law. Within this scope, she has provided legal consultancy on brokerage firms’ compliance with Capital Markets Law, ensured regulatory alignment of contracts, participated in general assembly meetings, and advised on M&A transactions. She has also reviewed and negotiated a wide range of agreements—including licensing and cross-border brokerage contracts—and supported clients in resolving contractual disputes and litigating cases arising under capital markets legislation.
She has offered legal support in personal data protection processes and advised on international commercial agreements involving public companies and foreign entities, including contracts related to R&D processes. She has also issued legal opinions in cross-border disputes and represented corporate clients and professional associations in criminal proceedings concerning breaches of client confidentiality.
Duygu Yılmaz continues to advise her clients particularly in capital markets, banking, and intellectual property law, while also expanding her work in the areas of artificial intelligence, information technology, and technology law.
